The Stade is the working fishing beach at the heart of Hastings Old Town — black net huts, the Hastings Contemporary gallery and the largest beach-launched fleet in Europe. For one weekend each September it turns into a festival of fresh-off-the-boat seafood, Sussex and Kent wines and live music, with cookery demos from C.J. Jackson — the Billingsgate-trained 'Fish Boss' — and a wine marquee showcasing local vineyards.
Pair it with the Rye Harvest Wine & Food Fair on the same weekend (twenty minutes back along the coast) and stay both nights at The River Haven.
Stay at The River Haven
Hastings is a 20-minute drive along the coast from Rye. Stay riverside at The River Haven and combine it with the Rye Harvest Wine & Food Fair on the same weekend.
