The New Romney Country Fayre is the largest free annual event on Romney Marsh, drawing around 5,000 visitors to St Martin's Field and the Fairfield Road Rec on the last Saturday in July. The format is traditional country-fair scaled up: a carnival parade through the town, two all-day entertainment arenas, more than a hundred craft, produce and trade stalls, and the full quota of beer tent and food vans. Run for the community by the community, with no admission charge.
New Romney sits a twenty-minute drive from The River Haven. The Fayre pairs naturally with a morning steam ride on the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway from the other end of town, and a riverside evening in Rye to round out the day.
