Rye’s medieval streets are a joy to walk and a challenge to park in. At The River Haven you don’t have to think about it: there’s a large car park behind the hotel, and it’s free for guests for as long as you’re staying.
Free on-site parking
Pull straight in, drop your bags at reception, and leave the car with us for your whole stay.
There’s room for around 22 cars — one for every room — so there’s no pay-and-display, no permits and no hunting for a space. Use TN31 7EL in your satnav: we’re on Strand Quay, just off the A259 coast road from Hastings to Folkestone.
Leave the car and walk
Once you’ve parked, the town is on the doorstep. Rye’s galleries, antique shops, pubs and restaurants are a short walk along the quay.

- Rye Castle (Ypres Tower) about 13 minutes
Or take it out for the day
Having the car with you makes the coast and countryside easy — and the car park is right there when you get back.

Good to know
- Spaces aren’t marked or reserved — it’s first come, first served, but there’s usually room for a car for every room.
- Staying on after check-out? You’re welcome to leave the car with us while you spend the day in Rye — we just ask that it’s moved by 3pm, so guests arriving that afternoon have somewhere to park.
- Need an accessible space? There are no marked disabled bays, but let us know when you book and we’ll cone off a space for you.
- Electric car? There’s no EV charging at the hotel, so plan to charge before you arrive.
Coming by train instead?
Rye station is about a ten-minute walk from the hotel, with regular trains to Ashford International (around 20 minutes) and on to London St Pancras. If you’d rather leave the car at home, you won’t miss it in town.
