Rye Harbour Nature Reserve covers nearly 1,100 hectares of shingle, saltmarsh, reedbed and grazing marsh between the Rother and Camber — one of the richest wildlife sites on the south coast. Volunteer walk leaders run a free guided walk every Wednesday morning, gentle pace, around two hours, no booking needed.
What you see depends on the season — wintering waders and ducks, summer breeding terns at the Ternery Pool, autumn migration on the saltmarsh. The reserve is good for first-time birders and curious walkers alike; the leaders carry binoculars and field guides.
Stay at The River Haven
Rye Harbour is a five-minute drive (or forty-minute walk) from The River Haven. Drop in for a Wednesday walk, then head back to the hotel for a late breakfast.
