Rye's long-running Thursday market has been a fixture for as long as anyone can remember — a friendly mix of fresh produce, plants, household goods, books, clothes and the odd antique stall, set in the Cattle Market Car Park near the railway station.

It's a working market rather than a tourist event, which is part of its charm. Get there early for the best of the produce; by mid-morning it's busy with locals doing their weekly shop.
