Full Throttle Boat Charters run a high-speed RIB out of Rye Harbour and along the coast to Seal Bay at Fairlight — eight miles past the marshes of Pett Level and the sandstone cliffs of the Hastings Country Park. At the colony the boat throttles back for fifteen or twenty minutes with the harbour and grey seals hauled out on the rocks — often a couple of dozen of them, frequently curious enough to come over for a look back. Trips run year-round, weather permitting; if you don't see a seal, half your money back.
The pontoon is a five-minute drive from The River Haven. Park at the hotel, drive over for your booked trip, and be back at the river for lunch — the whole outing is barely two hours including the drive.
Stay at The River Haven
